Wallsend Masonic Hall

Howdon Panns Lodge is one of the group of freemasons
lodges that meet in the Masonic Hall on Hugh Street
in Wallsend on Tyne.

We meet on the third Wednesday of each month
with the exception of July and August.

We were founded back in 1931 when on October 23rd
the lodge was consecrated by the then Deputy Provincial
Grand Master, W.Bro.C.W.Hodgson.

Our name, "Howdon Panns", comes from that area in the
East of the Borough of Wallsend which had established
connections with the old saltpanning and glassmaking
industries. This area also has associations with the
origins of the Tyne Lodge No.991, our Mother Lodge.

There are now a total of 14 masonic lodges and seven
other groups sharing the use of this historic Victorian building which was originally purpose built for the
Tyne Lodge back in 1891. It has been added to over the years since and has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment.
